Activity | Lawson was born in September 1878. He worked as General Manager of the Daisy Headache Company in Leeds from 1905. His connection with Boots was through Edward Glover, a director of Beechams of St Helen whom he had met at the PATA (Proprietary Trade Association). Glover was a former secretary to Sir Joseph Beecham was a good friend of Jesse Boot.
He joined Boots on 1st August 1915, being placed in charge of the Specialities & Packed Goods Department. Later he also took over the administration of the Packed Goods Office, and re-organised the Buying Office for packed Goods Supplies. During the War, he also took an active part in the management of the Anti-Gas Respirators Department. He was the Company’s representative on the executive of the Proprietary Manufacturers Association. In 1922 the Boots Formula Committee was formed and Lawson was appointed the Chairman. In 1927 he was apointed to the Proprietary Articles Department. In 1935 the new Sales Committee was announced and Mr Lawson was appointed in charge of Sales for Propietaries and Sundries Department, while continuing his position as Buyer for the department.
Lawson died at the age of 91 in November 1969, shortly after celebrating his diamond wedding anniversary with his wife, Faith. |
