ActivityD.E.Sparshott was born on 27th December 1903 and began his career with Boots on 3rd January 1927. From Selwyn College, Cambridge, he joined Boots Store 711 at Bishopgate. He qualified two years later in 1929 and served at London's Victoria Station and at Picadilly Circus before moving to Nottingham in 1931. Suceeding Mr. Lee as chief pharmacy superintendent in 1940, Mr. Sparshott was appointed to the boards of five retail companies, and remained chief pharmacy superintendent until his retirement in 1965. He was at one time secretary of the Company Chemists' Association and during the Second World War, a member of the pharmaceutical War Committee. He was elected to the Pharmaceutical Society's council in 1964, was vice-president in 1970-1, and president in 1973-4, as well as being a past chairman of the Nottingham branch of the society. Mr. Sparshott died on 7th April 1975, at the age of 71.
