| Administrative History | In 1964 a reorganisation of selling arrangements to farmers and growers saw the formation of a new company, Boots Farm Sales Limited. The new organisation resulted in nine regions with a regional supervisor for each, and newly appointed Agricultural Sales Manager. A Boots Farm Sales store would typically employ a Field Officer, Store Operator, three Fieldsmen, and a Driver, to serve the local area.
The first region in the new organisation covered the East and South Midlands, with business commencing on 2 November 1964 at new premises in Newark, followed shortly by Market Rasen, Boston, Peterborough and Biggleswade. The premises carried the full range of farming products manufactured by Boots, as well as from other manufacturers, to provide factory-to-farm deliveries throughout the country.
In December 1980 a new associate company, FBC Holdings Limited was established which merged Boots' worldwide agrochemical interests with those of Fisons Limited. Both Fisons Limited and Boots held equal shared in the new company. |
