Administrative History | Boots opened the first three Childrens World stores in early 1987, at Dudley, Cricklewood and Leicester. The stores were all located edge of town or in suburbs and offered a comprehensive range of merchandise and services for children up to the age of 12, including clothes, shoes, toys, baby products, nursery furniture, hairdressing and a snack bar, as well as mother and baby room and nappy changing facilities in both male and female toilets. By March 1989 there were 16 stores and by 1995 a total of 48. Childrens World was sold on 17 May 1996 to Storehouse (owners of Mothercare) for £62.5m. |
